President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged newly commissioned officers of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) to uphold the Nigerian Constitution and remain committed to protecting citizens and defending the country’s territorial integrity.
Tinubu gave the charge during the Combined Passing-Out Parade of the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna State.
The ceremony marked the commissioning of cadets from the 73 Regular Course, alongside participants from other military training programmes.
The President urged the new officers to make discipline, honour and selfless service central to their military careers.
He reminded them that their commission comes with significant responsibilities to the nation and its citizens.

Tinubu Emphasises Military Responsibility
According to the President, military officers must remain loyal to the Constitution and demonstrate professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He encouraged the newly commissioned officers to place national interest above personal considerations while carrying out their responsibilities.
Tinubu also stressed the importance of courage, discipline and integrity as essential qualities for members of the armed forces.
The commissioning ceremony brought together military officers, government representatives, families of the cadets and other dignitaries in Kaduna.
The new officers are expected to begin their professional military careers after completing the required training and commissioning process.

Call for Selfless Service
Tinubu’s message centred on the responsibility of the new officers to protect Nigerians and contribute to national security.
He urged them to uphold the values associated with military service and maintain the confidence placed in them by the country.
The President’s remarks come as Nigeria continues to rely on its armed forces in addressing various security challenges across the country.
