One person has been killed and 11 others injured following a reported second strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, according to officials cited in the report.

The incident occurred on Sunday, when a projectile reportedly struck Passenger Hall No. 4, triggering a fire. Saudi military spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki said air defences had intercepted a missile near the airport while authorities responded to the fire caused by what he described as an unknown projectile.

Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority identified the fatality as a Pakistani resident.

The reported attack came a day after another strike on the same airport allegedly killed 13 people and injured 308, making the latest incident part of a series of attacks targeting Saudi Arabia.

Houthis Claim Responsibility for Attacks

Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility for the recent attacks, saying it had used ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones during operations against Saudi targets.

The group also claimed to have targeted oil facilities and Dammam airport in eastern Saudi Arabia.

Houthi military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree reportedly warned that further operations inside Saudi Arabia would continue. He also cautioned airlines and passengers against using Saudi airports and airspace, while excluding airports in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina from the group’s stated threat.

The Houthis have linked their attacks to Saudi support for government forces in Yemen’s civil war and to an air strike on the airport in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa.

US and UK Consider Responses

The latest developments have prompted renewed attention from Western governments.

US President Donald Trump said Washington would make a decision on whether to strike the Houthis and indicated that any decision could come quickly.

UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting also suggested that Britain could potentially provide additional support to Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi-led military coalition had vowed to respond to the previous day’s deadly attack, describing it as a “war crime”.

International Condemnation After Earlier Attack

The earlier strike reportedly killed citizens of several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt.

India’s embassy in Saudi Arabia also announced that an Indian man had died from injuries sustained in the attack.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio condemned the strikes and confirmed that an American citizen had been killed. British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband also expressed strong concern.

Meanwhile, the UK Foreign Office advised against travel to parts of Saudi Arabia, including areas within 10 kilometres of the border with Yemen. Other Western diplomatic missions also issued warnings about travel in the region.

The reported attacks have heightened concerns over the security of civilian aviation and energy infrastructure as the conflict involving regional powers continues.
