Barrister Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Bauchi State for the 2027 general elections, has resigned his membership of the party.
Kashim announced his decision in a resignation letter dated October 16, 2026, addressed to the NDC chairman in Bauchi Local Government Area.
In the letter, he said the decision followed careful consideration and was a matter of personal choice.
“I hereby formally tender my resignation from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), effective from the date of this letter,” he stated.
Kashim Thanks Party Leadership
The former governorship candidate expressed appreciation to the NDC leadership and members for the opportunity to be associated with the party.
He also requested that the party formally acknowledge his resignation and update its membership records accordingly.
“Please accept the assurances of my highest regards,” he wrote.
Kashim’s resignation takes effect from October 16, 2026, according to the letter.
Uncertainty Over 2027 Governorship Ambition
Kashim’s departure marks a significant development for the NDC as political parties prepare for the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State.
However, his resignation letter did not disclose whether he intends to join another political party or withdraw from the governorship race.
The NDC has yet to announce its next step regarding the party’s governorship ticket.
Further developments are expected as Kashim and the party clarify their political positions ahead of the election.
