Political activist and co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls movement, Aisha Yesufu, has expressed disappointment over a recent interview granted by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, saying she felt the opportunity was not well utilised.

Reacting to the interview in a post on social media, Yesufu said she was left “irritated” and believed valuable time had been wasted.

“I feel so irritated. We wasted our time,” she wrote, sparking widespread reactions from supporters and political observers.

Although she did not immediately elaborate on the specific aspects of the interview that prompted her criticism, the remarks quickly gained attention online, with many Nigerians debating Obi’s performance and the issues he addressed during the media appearance.

Some supporters defended the former Anambra State governor, arguing that he answered the questions appropriately and remained focused on national issues. Others, however, agreed with Yesufu, saying the interview presented an opportunity for Obi to communicate more forcefully on his political vision and the challenges facing the country.

Yesufu has been one of Peter Obi’s most vocal supporters in recent years, frequently advocating for electoral reforms, good governance, and greater political accountability. Her criticism, therefore, has attracted significant public interest because of her longstanding support for the former presidential candidate.

As of the time of filing this report, Peter Obi had not publicly responded to Yesufu’s comments.

The exchange comes amid growing political discussions and realignments ahead of the 2027 general election, with opposition leaders intensifying consultations as they prepare for the next electoral contest.
