Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has emphasized that the ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja serve as the administration’s most compelling message to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During an inspection of the Arterial Road N16 and the Tunga Madaki–Zuba road projects on Wednesday, Wike reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering development despite the rising political activities.
He stated that completed and ongoing projects resonate more with the public than mere campaign promises, noting that residents prioritize tangible improvements over political rhetoric.
Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress on the Arterial Road N16, which connects Jahi, Gwarimpa, and Karsana. He revealed that the contractor, CBC Global, has assured the government that the project will be completed by January, pledging continued funding to meet this deadline.
Additionally, he praised the advancements on the 7.3-kilometer Tunga Madaki–Zuba road, managed by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, highlighting that work has remained on schedule despite weather-related challenges. This project is slated for completion by December.
The minister also announced that approval has been granted to relocate electricity poles along the route to facilitate the installation of streetlights, thereby enhancing safety and accessibility.
Wike commended the dedication of Chinese construction companies operating in the FCT, noting that many initiate projects without waiting for mobilization funds due to their confidence in the government’s commitment to fulfilling contractual payments.
He assured residents that the FCT Administration will continue to fund priority infrastructure projects while urging contractors to uphold quality standards and adhere to project timelines.
Wike added that regular inspections are part of the efforts to ensure that projects under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are completed on schedule and contribute to the ongoing development of the Federal Capital Territory.
