Russia has issued a warning to the United Kingdom about unspecified “consequences” following confirmation from a military source that British-made drones were employed in recent Ukrainian strikes targeting military and industrial sites within Russia.
The Russian Embassy in London accused the UK of intentionally escalating the conflict, cautioning that increased British involvement could lead to heavier repercussions.
Ukraine has ramped up its long-range drone assaults on Russian targets, including strikes on oil refineries, logistics hubs, and facilities associated with the online retailer Wildberries.
The UK Ministry of Defence reiterated its strong commitment to supporting Ukraine, with a spokesperson stating that Russia should not doubt the UK government’s determination to oppose Russian aggression.
Moscow has previously criticized the UK’s military assistance to Ukraine, such as supplying Storm Shadow missiles and drone technology. Nevertheless, the Russian embassy did not detail any specific retaliatory actions they might take in light of these ongoing developments.
This escalation follows a series of Ukrainian attacks that have notably impacted Russia’s domestic fuel infrastructure and economy. Reports indicate that hundreds of Ukrainian drones have targeted the Moscow region recently, damaging a Wildberries warehouse and injuring a child, according to regional officials.
At the same time, Russian strikes on Ukraine persist, with reports of 17 casualties, including 10 fatalities in a missile attack on the village of Pechenihy in northeastern Ukraine.
A military source informed the BBC that British drones were used in recent attacks on Russia, which, according to Ukrainian officials and analysts, have resulted in considerable economic damage.
