African Democratic Congress (ADC) Vice-Presidential Candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, has warned that the party’s current crop of leaders would be politically retired if the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins the 2027 presidential election.
Amaechi made the statement on Wednesday while addressing the ADC National Women League Conference in Abuja.
The former Rivers State governor urged ADC leaders and supporters outside the Federal Capital Territory to return to their respective states and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Amaechi said the party could not afford to concentrate its activities in Abuja while the election campaign required strong support at the ward and community levels.
“Let me tell you what will happen, we the crop of leaders you see here, if APC wins the 2027 elections, we are retired from politics. So if you don’t want us to retire from politics, we must go home.”
He also urged party members to work towards securing substantial votes in their respective wards.
“If you bring two thousand votes per ward, just bring two thousand votes and we have won the election,” he said.
Amaechi said he would personally take the campaign to different parts of the country, adding that ADC leaders must be prepared to work at the grassroots.
He also recalled the role played by women during the APC’s 2015 presidential campaign against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to Amaechi, the mobilisation of women across different states was an important part of that campaign strategy.
The ADC vice-presidential candidate has been campaigning alongside the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as the party prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
Amaechi’s remarks at the conference were focused on grassroots mobilisation and the need for ADC members to participate actively in the electoral process.
