A Federal High Court has adjusted the bail for Bello Bodejo, who is on trial for alleged money laundering, reducing the amount to ₦1 billion.

This decision came after the defendant’s legal team requested a review, arguing that the initial bail conditions were overly stringent and hard to fulfill.

While granting the application in part, the court agreed to lower the bail sum but maintained other conditions deemed necessary to ensure Bodejo’s presence throughout the trial.

Bodejo faces charges related to money laundering and similar financial offenses, which he denies, having pled not guilty.

The prosecution emphasized the severity of the charges and called for bail conditions that would secure Bodejo’s appearance when required. In contrast, the defense asserted the defendant’s right to bail, assuring the court he would not obstruct investigations or avoid trial.

Following this ruling, Bodejo must comply with the new bail conditions to be released from custody.

The trial has been adjourned, with both sides preparing to present their cases. The proceedings continue to draw public interest due to their legal and financial significance, with many closely watching the upcoming developments.
