The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the names, credentials, and personal details of 19 presidential candidates and their running mates for the 2027 general election.
These documents were made available on Saturday via Form EC9, adhering to the Electoral Act 2026 provisions.
INEC has stated that this publication is a legal obligation aimed at fostering transparency and boosting public confidence in the electoral process. It also provides Nigerians with the opportunity to review the information submitted by those aspiring to the nation’s highest office.
The commission noted that the documents have been displayed at its national headquarters, state offices, and local government offices across the country. Consequently, the public can inspect candidates’ credentials, affidavits, and other personal details.

According to INEC, this exercise is in accordance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2026, which mandates the Commission to publish candidates’ personal details and credentials within 21 days of receiving their nominations from political parties.
Additionally, INEC highlighted that this public display is meant to encourage accountability and transparency throughout the election process. Citizens are entitled to verify the information provided by candidates and, if necessary, contest any false claims through the appropriate legal channels.
