Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has unveiled the Iru Ekun Security Network in Ogun State as part of efforts to promote community-based security and respond to concerns about safety in the region.
The initiative was presented as a structured security network focused on training, discipline and cooperation with relevant government authorities.
Speaking during the unveiling, Igboho outlined the importance of maintaining discipline among members of the network and ensuring that its activities complement, rather than undermine, the responsibilities of recognised security agencies.
The Iru Ekun Security Network is expected to focus on supporting communities by identifying security concerns and improving communication between residents and authorities.
Igboho also stressed the importance of proper training for members, particularly in areas relating to discipline, community engagement and responsible conduct.
The initiative comes amid continuing concerns over insecurity across parts of Ogun State and other parts of the South-West, where residents have repeatedly called for stronger community-level security measures.
Supporters of the initiative say organised community participation can help improve information-sharing and strengthen cooperation with law enforcement agencies. However, the effectiveness of the network will depend on its ability to operate within the law and maintain clear coordination with government security institutions.
The unveiling of Iru Ekun adds another dimension to ongoing discussions about community security and the role of local initiatives in supporting the protection of lives and property.
Igboho said the initiative would seek to build a disciplined and responsible network while working with appropriate government authorities.
