The Nigeria Police Force has arraigned three men before the Federal High Court in Abuja over an alleged $100,000 fraud involving a transaction for automobile spare parts.
The suspects are George Ali, Anthony Ali and Simon Ali.
They were charged with criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and obtaining by false pretences.
INTERPOL unit investigated case
The case was investigated by operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja.
The investigation followed a complaint concerning a transaction dating back to 2009 involving the purchase and shipment of auto spare parts from the United States.
According to the police, the complainant transferred $100,000 to the suspects to facilitate the transaction.
However, the police alleged that the agreed transaction was not completed and that the funds were subsequently diverted.
The allegations remain subject to determination by the court.
Suspects appear before Federal High Court
George Ali, Anthony Ali and Simon Ali were arraigned before Court 6 of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja.
The court adjourned the matter until December 3, 2026, for further hearing.
The police said its investigation focused on allegations that the money was not used for the purpose for which it was transferred.
The suspects are entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until a court determines otherwise.
Police restate commitment to financial crime investigations
The Nigeria Police Force said it remains committed to investigating financial crimes and other offences.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to the diligent investigation of financial crimes and other offences,” the police said.
The case will now continue before the Federal High Court as the parties return for further proceedings in December.
