Dozens of residents living near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire are expected to spend another night away from their homes as counter-terrorism police continue investigating a major security incident in the area.
More than 80 properties were evacuated as police responded to reports involving three suspicious vehicles travelling towards the Royal Air Force base early on Sunday morning.
Gloucestershire Police said the force received the report at about 00:45 BST.
Five men have been arrested and remain in custody. Police said the suspects were arrested on suspicion of offences under the Explosives Act and on suspicion of preparing to commit a terrorist act.
The allegations have not been proven, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Residents Arranged Temporary Accommodation
Cotswold District Council said it was working with residents affected by the evacuation to arrange somewhere for them to stay.
David Stanley of the council said some residents had been able to stay with relatives or friends, while accommodation was being arranged for others.
The evacuation means residents from more than 80 homes will not be allowed to return overnight while police continue their investigation.
Investigation Continues
Authorities have maintained a security operation around the area as detectives work to establish what happened and why the vehicles were travelling towards the RAF base.
An image geolocated by BBC Verify reportedly appeared to show the five detained men near RAF Fairford.
US President Donald Trump also commented on the arrests, saying during a press conference that US authorities had been monitoring the five men for some time before they were detained.
Police have not indicated that the investigation has concluded.
Residents affected by the evacuation are expected to remain away from their properties until authorities determine that it is safe for them to return.
