President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has met with billionaire businessman and investor Femi Otedola at a private dinner in Paris, France, as the President continues his extended stay in Europe.
Otedola disclosed the meeting in a post on his X account on Tuesday, accompanied by a photograph showing him and the President together at the dinner.
The businessman used the occasion to express his support for the economic direction of the Tinubu administration, particularly the reforms introduced since the President assumed office.
According to Otedola, the reforms have placed Nigeria’s economy on what he described as a path toward sustainable growth.
“At a private dinner in Paris yesterday evening with His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose bold and forward-thinking reforms have put our economy firmly on a path of sustainable growth,” Otedola wrote.
He pointed to developments in Nigeria’s capital market as part of the indicators he believes demonstrate growing investor confidence.
Among the developments he highlighted was the inclusion of six Nigerian companies in the FTSE Russell Frontier 50 Index.
The companies are FirstHoldCo, Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO), Zenith Bank, MTN Nigeria Communications, Dangote Cement and Aradel Holdings. FTSE Russell’s September review made the changes effective from September 21, 2026.
Otedola also referenced the performance of the Nigerian Exchange, increased foreign investment and what he described as renewed confidence in the Nigerian economy.
Nigeria’s return to FTSE Russell’s Frontier Market classification followed a period in which the country had been designated unclassified. The reclassification has restored Nigerian equities to the provider’s frontier-market universe.
The meeting between Tinubu and Otedola comes amid continued discussions over the impact of the Federal Government’s economic policies, including foreign exchange and capital-market reforms.
While Otedola offered a positive assessment of the administration’s economic programme, his comments represent his own view of the reforms and their effects.
The President’s European engagements have included meetings with business and political figures as his overseas stay continues.
