Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has responded to a recent media interview given by former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi. Onanuga noted two main points that stood out in the interview.
In a post on his social media platforms, Onanuga expressed that Obi’s interview reinforced his views regarding the opposition leader’s political methods and public statements as the 2027 general election approaches.
The first point Onanuga emphasized was Obi’s critique of Nigeria’s current political and economic state. He argued that Obi’s perspective lacked balance in representing the efforts the Tinubu administration is making to tackle the nation’s issues.
The second point focused on Obi’s views on governance and leadership. Onanuga claimed that the former governor of Anambra State did not adequately recognize some reforms initiated by the Federal Government since President Tinubu took office.
Onanuga asserted that while opposition leaders have every right to criticize government policies, such critiques should be fact-based and fairly reflect the ongoing attempts to improve areas like the economy, infrastructure, security, and social welfare.
His comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with supporters of both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition defending their stances.
