Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued two kidnapped persons during a search operation around Bagega in Zamfara State, as security operations continue against suspected terrorists in the area.
The operation was conducted on October 26, 2026, by troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, following reports of suspicious movements by suspected terrorists in the Bagega general area.
According to military sources, the troops swiftly mobilised and launched a search operation, which led to the rescue of the two victims.
Victims Identified
The rescued persons were identified as Shehu Chete, 40, and Bugu Bedi, 25. Both men are from Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The Army said the victims were evacuated from the area for medical attention and were receiving the necessary care.
No further details were immediately provided about where the victims were being held or the circumstances surrounding their abduction.
Troops Sustain Security Operations
The military said troops remained deployed around Bagega to maintain public safety, prevent further criminal activities and protect residents.
It added that the situation in the area remained under control, with operations continuing to deter suspected criminal elements.
The search operation forms part of broader military efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, which targets armed groups and other security threats in parts of north-western Nigeria.
