The Police Command in Oyo State has apprehended 10 individuals suspected of trading in human parts, recovering what appears to be body parts and charms in the process. DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the Public Relations Officer for the command, shared this information in a statement released to journalists on Saturday in Ibadan.
Ayanlade explained that these arrests followed several months of intensive intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance by the command’s monitoring unit. The suspects were captured at various locations in the Iseyin and Saki areas of the state.
After their apprehension, operatives searched the suspects’ hideouts, uncovering several items thought to be human parts. The evidence included a suspected human heart, flesh, fragments of a human skull, and various charms.
Ayanlade noted that the seized items have been secured for forensic examination and further investigation. The suspects are currently cooperating with investigators to clarify the origin, acquisition, and intended purpose of these items.
The command’s spokesman added that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate involved. He also mentioned that the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abimbola Olugbenga, praised the operatives for their thorough intelligence-led operation and professionalism.
The Commissioner of Police emphasized the command’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements from the state and safeguarding human life.
