OSOGBO — Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, describing the President as a son of Osun State.
Adeleke spoke after being declared winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, thanking President Tinubu for what he described as his support for a transparent and credible electoral process.
The governor said the election was conducted in a manner that allowed voters to freely exercise their constitutional rights.
“I must sincerely thank President Tinubu for his unwavering support in ensuring a transparent electoral process. As a native son of Osun State, I reaffirm my backing of him for the 2027 presidential race.”
Adeleke’s declaration represents a notable political development following the bitterly contested governorship election, in which he defeated his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Adeleke won 19 Local Government Areas, recording a total of 511,067 votes.
Oyebamiji, meanwhile, secured victory in 11 LGAs and polled 444,815 votes.
The governor’s victory secures another term at the Bola Ige Government House and places him at the centre of political discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Earlier on Sunday, President Tinubu congratulated Adeleke on his electoral victory.
Adeleke’s endorsement of Tinubu is particularly significant given the political realignment already taking place ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
