Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, recently visited President Bola Tinubu following his triumph in the August 15, 2026, governorship election.
During this visit, Adeleke presented his Certificate of Return to the President.
The meeting took place shortly after Tinubu congratulated Adeleke on his re-election, characterizing the outcome as a true representation of the choices made by voters in Osun.
“I reached out to Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to offer my congratulations on his election victory in Osun State. His win reaffirms the trust the people of Osun State place in him,” Tinubu stated through his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.
“The election results reflect the people’s will and provide reassurance that democracy will keep thriving in our nation,” added the President.
Adeleke Secures Second Term
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared Adeleke victorious in the election on Sunday.
According to INEC, Adeleke garnered 511,067 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 444,815 votes.
Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came third with 17,180 votes.
INEC reported that a total of 1,005,800 votes were cast across the state, with 985,079 valid votes. A total of 1,010,684 voters were accredited for the election.
Adeleke Contested Under Accord Party
The election saw participation from 15 political parties, with Adeleke running for a second term on the Accord Party platform.
Initially gaining his first term under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he switched allegiance in December to contest the 2026 election with Accord, earning another four-year term as governor of Osun State
