Nigerian midfielder Anthony Dennis has completed his move from Turkish side Göztepe to United Arab Emirates club Al Jazira, marking a new chapter in the 22-year-old’s football career.
Al Jazira confirmed Dennis’ arrival on its official X account, announcing the midfielder as a new resident player.
“The wait is over! Officially: Al Jazira Club completes the signing of the young midfielder Anthony Dennis and registers him as a resident player,” the club stated.
Dennis’ Journey From Abuja to Turkey
Dennis began his professional development at HB Academy Abuja before joining Göztepe in January 2023.
He initially featured for the Turkish club’s U-19 team before earning promotion to the senior squad.
The midfielder made his professional debut for Göztepe in a 1–1 TFF First League draw against Çorum on January 27, 2024.
His performances subsequently earned him a permanent place in the first team.
Key Role in Göztepe Promotion
Dennis extended his contract with Göztepe in May 2024, with the new agreement running until 2027.
He was part of the squad that helped Göztepe secure promotion to the Turkish Süper Lig for the 2024–25 season.
During his time with the club, Dennis developed into an important midfield option and gained valuable experience in Turkish professional football.
He finished his Göztepe spell with five goals and two assists in 83 appearances across all competitions.
New Challenge in the UAE
The move to Al Jazira gives Dennis an opportunity to continue his development in the UAE and compete in a new football environment.
The Nigerian midfielder has previously been invited to the Super Eagles setup, underlining the growing recognition of his potential.
At just 22, Dennis will now look to establish himself at Al Jazira and use his experience in Turkey as a foundation for further progress in his career.
His transfer also represents another step in the growing movement of Nigerian football talent into leagues outside Europe, as young players continue to seek opportunities to develop and compete at the highest level.
