Ikorodu Secures Approval for Command Secondary School at 174 Battalion

The approval was formally received by Hon. Babajimi Benson, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Defence and representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency. The development is expected to expand access to quality and affordable secondary education for children of military personnel, their families and residents of surrounding communities.

Benson welcomed the approval, describing the project as a landmark development and an important investment in education and human capital development in Ikorodu.

He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Chief of Army Staff and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for their support and commitment to educational development and the welfare of military families.

According to Benson, the proposed school will serve more than military families, with the facility expected to become an important educational asset for the wider Ikorodu community.

He said the project demonstrates the impact of purposeful leadership when genuine community needs are identified and addressed.

“This is more than a school; it is an investment in our children, human capital and the families of those who serve our nation,” Benson said.

The lawmaker also linked the initiative to the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its emphasis on education, human capital development and improved welfare for members of the Armed Forces and their families.

For Ikorodu residents, the approval is expected to provide additional educational opportunities as the community continues to grow. The school could also help reduce pressure on existing secondary schools and provide families with another option for quality education.

Benson said the people of Ikorodu were ready to support the successful take-off and sustainability of the institution.

The proposed Command Secondary School, 174 Battalion, Ikorodu, is expected to become a centre for academic excellence, discipline, character development and opportunity for future generations.
