Liverpool’s search for their first Premier League victory of the new campaign has continued after the Reds were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest.
The result leaves Liverpool still searching for consistency after another match in which they had to come from behind to avoid defeat.
Nottingham Forest made the stronger start and took advantage of an opening to move ahead, putting pressure on the home side and forcing Liverpool to chase the game.
Liverpool eventually found a response after the break, with Alexander Isak getting on the scoresheet to bring the hosts back into contention.
The visitors, however, refused to sit back. Forest regained the lead from the penalty spot, leaving Liverpool with another difficult task as the game entered its closing stages.
Liverpool continued to push forward and were rewarded when Víctor Muñoz found the net to restore parity.
Despite their late efforts, the Reds could not find a winning goal, meaning both sides had to settle for a point.
The draw will leave Liverpool frustrated, particularly after conceding the lead twice. The club will now need to improve at both ends of the pitch if they are to challenge strongly in the Premier League this season.
For Nottingham Forest, earning a point away from home will be seen as a positive result, especially after twice holding off Liverpool’s attempts to take control.
Liverpool will now turn their attention to their next fixture, hoping to end their winless run and get their campaign moving in the right direction.
