Nigerian troops have successfully repelled an attack by suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on a military base in Borno State, preventing the insurgents from overrunning the facility.
According to military sources, the terrorists launched the assault in an attempt to breach the base, but were met with fierce resistance from soldiers who engaged them in a prolonged gun battle.
