President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has said Europe should appreciate Nigeria and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for helping keep aircraft flying across the continent.

Dangote made the statement on Monday as the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Dangote Refinery opened on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX).

According to the businessman, Dangote Refinery has become the largest supplier of jet fuel to Europe since August 2026.

He said the refinery’s aviation fuel has recorded strong demand, with its available supply for the international market already sold.

“Dangote Refinery is the largest supplier of jet fuel to Europe. Europe must really thank Nigeria under the leadership of President Tinubu for keeping their planes flying,” Dangote said.

The businessman explained that the refinery had sold out its jet fuel supplies from around August and September.

He added that the refinery currently has no additional aviation fuel available for international buyers because production has already been committed.

“We sold out in terms of jet fuel, we have nothing to sell anymore, we only reserve that for Nigeria,” he said.

Dangote Refinery IPO Opens on NGX

Dangote made the remarks as the refinery’s IPO officially commenced on the Nigerian Exchange Limited.

The public offering is valued at about N2.15 trillion, or approximately $1.6 billion.

The IPO consists of 4.1 billion ordinary shares being offered at N525 per share.

The refinery is targeting up to 10 million Nigerian investors through the offer.

The IPO represents another major step in Dangote Refinery’s development and its growing role in Nigeria’s energy industry.

It also gives Nigerians an opportunity to take part in the ownership of one of the country’s biggest industrial projects.

Dangote Refinery Expands Jet Fuel Supply

The refinery’s growing position in the aviation fuel market has attracted attention beyond Nigeria.

Dangote’s comments suggest that the facility is playing an increasingly important role in meeting jet fuel demand in Europe.

He also indicated that Nigeria would continue to receive priority as the refinery manages its available aviation fuel supplies.

The development comes as Nigeria continues efforts to strengthen domestic refining capacity and reduce dependence on imported petroleum products.

With the IPO now open on the NGX, Dangote Refinery is also looking to attract millions of Nigerian investors while expanding its influence in the global energy market.

The development further highlights the growing importance of the refinery to Nigeria’s petroleum industry and its emerging role as a supplier of refined products to international markets.
