Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared that the political crisis in the state is over, announcing his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the political coalition led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, popularly referred to as the “Rainbow Coalition.”

Speaking at a public gathering, Fubara said it was time to put political differences aside and focus on governance, development, and the welfare of the people of Rivers State.

“The war is over,” the governor declared, urging his supporters to embrace reconciliation and work together with other political stakeholders in the interest of peace and progress.

Fubara acknowledged the role played by President Tinubu in facilitating efforts to resolve the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State, describing dialogue and reconciliation as the best path toward lasting stability.

The governor also pledged to work with Wike and members of the Rainbow Coalition, saying the period of political confrontation should give way to cooperation and inclusive governance.

The development marks a significant shift in Rivers State politics after months of intense rivalry between Fubara and his predecessor, Wike, a conflict that divided the state’s political landscape and attracted national attention.

Political analysts say the reconciliation could reshape alliances ahead of the 2027 general election, with Rivers expected to remain a key battleground in Nigeria’s political calculations.

Supporters of the reconciliation have welcomed the move as a step toward restoring stability in the oil-rich state, while critics argue that the durability of the alliance will depend on sustained trust and cooperation among the parties involved.

As political activities gather momentum ahead of the next election cycle, observers will be closely watching how the renewed relationship between Fubara, Wike, and the Tinubu administration influences the political landscape in Rivers State and beyond.
