Nigerian Afrobeats singer Kizz Daniel, whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, has explained why he temporarily stepped away from music.
The singer disclosed that his break was prompted by the death of his mother earlier in 2026.
Kizz Daniel made the revelation while responding to a fan on X on Friday.
A fan, @VicroyDominion1, had suggested that the singer might have been taking time away from the public because he was working on a new album.
However, Kizz Daniel dismissed the assumption, explaining that his absence was connected to a personal loss rather than a new music project.
“I paused for my Mom, not an album… Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family… sorry I came late this year.”
The singer’s statement gives insight into the personal reason behind his reduced musical activity this year.
Despite the loss, Kizz Daniel said he has to continue moving forward for the sake of the rest of his family.
Kizz Daniel previously spoke about family loss
The singer has previously spoken publicly about bereavement within his family.
In 2025, he revealed that his wife had also lost her mother in 2024.
Kizz Daniel has continued to maintain a relatively private approach to his personal life while focusing on his music career.
