A survivor of a deadly attack in Plateau State has shared a heartbreaking account of how armed assailants allegedly killed several members of his family, including his wife, daughter, son, daughter-in-law, and a two-month-old grandchild.
Speaking amid grief, the survivor described the assault as one of the darkest moments of his life, saying the attackers stormed the community, unleashing violence that left numerous residents dead, injured, and displaced.
According to him, his family was unable to escape as the gunmen attacked their home during the violence. He said he lost his wife, daughter, son, his son’s wife, and their two-month-old baby in the incident, leaving him devastated and struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
The attack has renewed concerns over the persistent insecurity in parts of Plateau State, where communities have experienced recurring episodes of violence resulting in significant loss of lives and destruction of property.
Security agencies have since launched investigations and intensified efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack. Authorities have also pledged to strengthen security in the affected communities to prevent further violence.
Community leaders and humanitarian organisations have called for urgent government intervention, including increased security presence, support for displaced families, and measures to address the underlying causes of the recurring attacks.
The latest incident has drawn widespread condemnation from Nigerians, with many urging the Federal Government to take decisive steps to protect vulnerable communities and ensure that those behind the killings are brought to justice.
As investigations continue, affected families are appealing for justice while mourning the painful loss of their loved ones.
