The Nigeria Police Force has announced a series of arrests and recoveries during operations conducted across eight states.
The operations targeted suspected kidnappers, armed robbery suspects, cultists and individuals accused of other criminal offences.
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the operations were carried out between September 17 and 20, 2026.
The affected states are Oyo, Kogi, Kano, Delta, Cross River, Nasarawa, Gombe and Bayelsa.
Suspected Kidnapping Ring Disrupted in Oyo
Police operatives in Oyo State arrested a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate at Kanbi Village in Atisbo Local Government Area.
The arrest was made on September 18 following what police described as credible intelligence.
Two other suspects were also arrested for allegedly helping to conceal kidnapping activities.
In a separate operation, police arrested a serving Nigerian Air Force personnel over an alleged armed robbery and abduction incident in Ibadan.
A blue Toyota Camry allegedly used during the operation was recovered.
The cases are being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Ibadan.
Gun Recovered After Fatal Shooting in Kogi
In Kogi State, detectives arrested a suspect following a fatal shooting at Ohunene Community in Ajaokuta Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on September 19.
Police said a barrel gun allegedly linked to the incident was recovered.
Another suspect was arrested in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area, following a report concerning a missing person.
Both cases have been transferred to the SCID in Lokoja for investigation.
Woman Arrested Over Husband’s Death
Police in Kano State also arrested a female suspect following the reported death of her husband.
The incident occurred at Katsalle Quarters in Rogo Local Government Area.
The case is currently being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Kano.
Two Defilement Cases Reported in Delta
Delta State recorded two separate arrests involving allegations of defilement.
In one case, police arrested a suspect over the alleged defilement of a minor in Ughelli South Local Government Area.
In another incident, a suspect was arrested following the alleged defilement of an eight-year-old girl at Okwagbe Waterside Community.
Police said the two victims were taken to hospitals for medical examination and treatment.
The eight-year-old girl was taken to the General Hospital in Otu-Jeremi.
The police said investigations into the various cases are ongoing.
All suspects remain subject to the outcome of investigations and any subsequent court proceedings.
