Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians living in New York to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Shettima made the appeal during an engagement with members of the Nigerian community in New York as he represented President Tinubu at the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
The Vice President arrived in New York on September 20 to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the global gathering. The Federal Government said his engagements would focus on Nigeria’s national interests, economic development, international cooperation and investment opportunities.

Shettima seeks diaspora support
During his meeting with Nigerians in the United States, Shettima highlighted the role of the diaspora in Nigeria’s development.
He called on Nigerians abroad to support efforts aimed at transforming the country’s economy and creating more opportunities for citizens.
The Vice President has consistently promoted the administration’s economic reform agenda during his international engagements.
At the UNGA, he has also been highlighting opportunities for investment, particularly in areas such as critical minerals, energy and services.

Nigeria seeks global partnerships
The Federal Government said Nigeria is using the UN General Assembly to strengthen relationships with international partners and attract investment.
Shettima has emphasized the importance of partnerships that can support economic growth, job creation and industrial development.
During a recent engagement on Africa’s minerals strategy, he called for greater processing and value addition instead of continued dependence on the export of raw minerals.
The Vice President is also scheduled to present Nigeria’s national statement at the General Assembly, outlining the country’s positions on global issues and President Tinubu’s priorities for international cooperation.

Diaspora engagement
The meeting with Nigerians in New York forms part of Shettima’s wider engagements during his stay in the United States.
The government has described Nigerians in the diaspora as an important part of the country’s human and economic resources.
Shettima’s appeal comes as the administration continues to promote the Renewed Hope Agenda and seek partnerships to support investment, economic growth and development.
