Troops Rescue 14 Abducted Victims as Terrorists Flee Katsina Forest

Soldiers from Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully rescued 14 kidnapped individuals after a confrontation with suspected terrorists in the Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State. The rescue mission occurred on Tuesday, August 18, following credible intelligence that indicated terrorists were transporting captives through the Madaci Forest.

Upon receiving this information, troops from Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma swiftly mobilized to the location and engaged in a firefight with the terrorists. The intense pressure from the troops caused the attackers to abandon their captives and retreat into the surrounding forest.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operation’s Media Information Officer, reported that troops subsequently conducted a search of the area and successfully recovered all 14 hostages, consisting of six males and eight females.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims had been abducted from various communities in the Dandume, Bakori, and Funtua areas of Katsina State. Their rescue underscores ongoing efforts by security forces to disrupt the operations of terrorist and kidnap groups active in the North-West region.

Operation Fansan Yamma continues to carry out military activities across the North-West to restrict the movement of terrorists and other criminal elements. The Theatre Command emphasized their commitment to maintaining pressure on these groups while intensifying efforts to protect communities and free hostages.

This successful rescue mission occurs amid persistent security challenges in Katsina and neighboring states, where armed groups have frequently attacked and kidnapped residents and travelers. The military has urged the public to continue supplying credible information to aid security agencies in tracking criminal activities and preventing further incidents.
