National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has said that Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar do not have the political support required in Northern Nigeria to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Ganduje made the remarks while commenting on the country’s evolving political landscape ahead of the next general elections. According to him, the North remains a decisive voting bloc, and any presidential hopeful seeking victory must enjoy substantial grassroots backing across the region.
He argued that President Tinubu continues to command strong political alliances and support structures nationwide, particularly in the North, which he said would give the APC an advantage in the next presidential contest.
The APC chairman maintained that neither Obi nor Atiku has demonstrated the level of political mobilisation necessary to challenge Tinubu successfully in the region. He expressed confidence that the ruling party would retain power in 2027 based on its political strength and ongoing efforts to consolidate support across the country.
Ganduje’s comments have sparked reactions from political observers and supporters of the opposition, with many noting that political dynamics could still change before the next election.
