The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has emphasized its dedication to due process, institutional discipline, and the rule of law amidst the controversy involving social media figure Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 2, Lagos, AIG Moshood Jimoh.

In a statement released on its official X account on Tuesday, Force Public Relations Officer CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi (or the current spokesperson, as appropriate) mentioned that the criminal matter cited by VeryDarkMan has already been investigated and is currently in court following legal guidance from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The police clarified that since the case is under judicial consideration, its verdict will be determined by the judiciary.

The Force will refrain from trying this case in the media or allowing public campaigns or commentary to influence its outcome by prejudging the officers or parties involved.

AIG Invited for Questioning

The Police confirmed that the Assistant Inspector-General of Police overseeing the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) has summoned AIG Moshood Jimoh for questioning concerning the allegations against him.

An internal administrative review aims to establish the facts around the claims while ensuring accountability within the Force.

VeryDarkMan Also Invited

Furthermore, the Police revealed that the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, formally invited VeryDarkMan on July 30, 2026, to present evidence supporting his public allegations.

The Force reiterated that this invitation is part of its commitment to a fair and impartial investigation.

The Police assured that any credible misconduct allegation will be thoroughly probed, regardless of the officer’s rank or the complainant’s public profile.

The NPF stressed that their actions underscore their determination to uphold professionalism, transparency, and accountability while allowing the judicial process to unfold without external interference.
