The Kwara State Government has reported the release of 176 individuals who were abducted during the February 3, 2026 attack on the Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area.
The announcement, made on Wednesday via the state’s official Facebook page, brings relief to both the victims and their families after months of uncertainty.
In response to this significant development, the government expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as security agencies and all others involved in facilitating the victims’ release.

The abductions occurred when suspected extremists linked to Boko Haram attacked the rural areas of Woro and Nuku on motorcycles, conducting a coordinated assault that reportedly went on for several hours.
Though the state government confirmed the victims’ release, it did not provide details about the circumstances of their liberation or if any rescue operations or negotiations were involved.
