Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has met with the victims rescued from captivity following the deadly attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.
The governor visited the freed abductees at the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division Medical Facility, Sobi Barracks, Ilorin, where they are receiving medical care and undergoing initial rehabilitation after spending about six months in captivity.
The victims were rescued on Wednesday during a major security operation involving the Nigerian military and other security agencies.
According to available figures, 163 of the 176 persons abducted from Woro were successfully rescued, alongside 145 other captives from neighbouring Niger State, bringing the total number of rescued victims to 308.

The freed victims reportedly spent Wednesday night at a military facility in Niger State before they were transported to Ilorin on Thursday night under heavy security.
Governor AbdulRazaq commended the security agencies for the successful operation and assured the rescued victims of the state government’s continued support as they begin the process of recovery and reunification with their families.
The governor also pledged that the state would provide the necessary medical, psychological and welfare assistance to help the victims recover from the trauma they endured during their months in captivity.
The rescue operation followed months of sustained military offensives against terrorists operating around the Kainji Lake National Park and surrounding forests, where the abductees were believed to have been held.
