Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has commissioned the reconstructed Nassarawa–Flour Mills Road, a major transport corridor linking communities and commercial areas across Kaduna metropolis.
The road stretches from the Zenith Bank Roundabout on Old Kachia Road, through Makera and Kakuri, to the Western Bypass, connecting Kaduna South and Chikun Local Government Areas.
Speaking at the commissioning, the governor said the project was only about 15 per cent complete when his administration assumed office.
According to him, the government decided against allowing the strategically important infrastructure to remain abandoned and subsequently prioritised its completion.
Sani said the completed project includes improved drainage infrastructure and solar-powered streetlights, describing the intervention as part of efforts to improve connectivity and economic activity within the metropolis.
The governor said the road would provide several benefits to residents and businesses, including shorter travel times and lower transportation costs.
He added that the improved corridor would strengthen access to the Makera–Kakuri industrial axis and make it easier to move people and goods across the area.
The project is also expected to improve access to schools and healthcare facilities while enhancing emergency response within surrounding communities.
According to Sani, the improved road infrastructure would further create a more favourable environment for businesses, investment and employment opportunities.
Representatives of communities benefiting from the project reportedly expressed appreciation for the intervention during the commissioning ceremony.
The governor said their feedback demonstrated the importance of the road to residents whose daily activities and livelihoods depend on efficient transportation networks.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering infrastructure projects capable of producing long-term benefits for the people of Kaduna State.
Sani described the completed road as part of the broader vision of building a Kaduna that is better connected, economically productive and positioned for greater prosperity.
