Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as political platforms with a shared progressive heritage.
Soludo made the statement on Thursday while receiving Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during her visit to Anambra State.
The governor said APGA currently maintains a working relationship with the Federal Government and the APC, describing the arrangement as a partnership focused on advancing Nigeria’s development.
According to him, the progressive political movement in the country should be united by the common objective of building a prosperous Nigeria rather than being divided by political differences.
Soludo noted that APGA, which was registered in 2002 as a progressive political party, has maintained a strong political presence in Anambra State.
He explained that the APC, which emerged years later, included members from different political formations, including a faction associated with APGA.
“The All Progressives Congress, APC, came about 12 years later, including as a consortium a faction of APGA, so even in APC there is a part of APGA DNA,” Soludo said.
The governor further emphasised the longstanding relationship between APGA and Anambra, noting that the party has remained deeply rooted in the state.
“APGA has since dug-in in Anambra State and here we say that Anambra is APGA and APGA is Anambra,” he stated.
Soludo said political progressives across the country should work together toward achieving shared prosperity and expanding opportunities for Nigerians.
“As progressives we are united by the objective to see a Nigeria where there is shared and sustainable prosperity with expanding opportunities for all,” he said.
He described the existing relationship involving APGA, the Federal Government and the APC as a productive partnership.
“So far, ours is a partnership that works, a partnership between APGA, the federal government, and the APC, it’s a partnership that works,” Soludo added.
The governor’s remarks come as political parties and major political figures intensify consultations and alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
