Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has launched a public attack on his elder brother, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, a member of the House of Representatives.
The reason for the apparent family dispute was not immediately clear as of the time of filing this report.
Bashir took to his X account on Saturday morning, where he criticised the lawmaker and made allegations of cocaine and alcohol abuse against him.
In the post, Bashir described his brother in derogatory terms and alleged that he frequently had an unidentified white substance around his nostrils.
He also questioned his brother’s conduct as an elected representative, alleging that the lawmaker preferred alcohol and cocaine.
Bashir wrote: “That is your member in the House, representing a whole populace, but prefers alcohol and cocaine. Yes, you.”
The post generated reactions from some of Bashir’s followers, with several users urging him to resolve the disagreement privately rather than discussing the family matter publicly on social media.
One commenter advised Bashir to settle the matter outside social media, suggesting that public attacks could further escalate the dispute.
Bashir, however, rejected the criticism and maintained his allegations against his elder brother.
“He’s the one on colos, actually, and a diet of cocaine and whiskey,” he replied.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and Mohammed Bello El-Rufai had not publicly responded to the claims at the time of filing this report.
The public exchange has attracted attention because both men are members of the prominent El-Rufai family, with Mohammed Bello currently serving as a federal lawmaker.
It remains unclear whether the dispute is linked to political differences, personal disagreements or other issues within the family.
