Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents the Osun East Senatorial District, has arrived at the headquarters of the Osun State Police Command in Osogbo to be questioned about alleged inciting remarks.
According to reports from Channels TV, Fadahunsi arrived at the headquarters around 2:35 p.m. on Wednesday, accompanied by Samuel Erale, the Commissioner of Police in charge of election and security.
He was asked to appear following the circulation of a campaign video from an All Progressives Congress rally in Ilesa. In this video, the senator reportedly made remarks in Yoruba that were interpreted as urging his supporters to engage violently with members of the rival Accord Party.
The comments drew police attention amid heightened political activity leading up to the Osun State gubernatorial election scheduled for Saturday.
The Osun State Police Command directed Fadahunsi to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department on Tuesday for questioning regarding a video. His alleged statements were characterized as threatening, inciting, and potentially increasing tension ahead of the election.
