Professor Christopher Imumolen, the National Chairman of a faction of the Accord party, declared the withdrawal of the party’s support for Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the upcoming governorship election on Saturday.
Imumolen made this announcement at the All Progressives Congress (APC) mega rally in Osogbo. He stated that the party’s National Working Committee had decided to back the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, also known as AMBO, for the August 15 election.
“As Chairman of the Accord and with all our National Working Committee members here today, we withdraw our support for Governor Ademola Adeleke and endorse AMBO,” Imumolen asserted.
He encouraged party members and supporters across Osun State to cast their votes for Oyebamiji and the APC in the Saturday election.
“All our members should vote for AMBO and the APC,” he emphasized.
This endorsement followed the Accord’s decision to suspend its mega rally originally planned for August 12 due to internal issues within the party. Imumolen noted that their decision to support Oyebamiji arose from these mobilization challenges.
During his speech at the APC rally, Senator Hope Uzodinma, head of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, expressed optimism about the APC’s chances, calling on Osun residents to back their candidate.
“Vote AMBO, vote prosperity, vote for a prosperous Osun. We have 31 state governors showing our solidarity here to welcome Osun into the fold of the progressives,” Uzodinma stated.
Oyebamiji promised to prioritize good governance and enhance resident welfare if elected on August 15.
“Our administration, elected on August 15, 2026, will be people-centered. We’ll uphold your mandate with no more distractions but strict governance. I am committed to improving the lives of Osun’s people,” he declared.
Adegboyega Oyetola, Osun State’s APC leader and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, also called upon voters to support Oyebamiji, highlighting him as a reliable and experienced candidate.
“Let’s rally behind Oyebamiji. His proven track record speaks volumes compared to other candidates,” Oyetola remarked.
