“Charge Me to Court” — VeryDarkMan Fires Back at Police Over Kidnapping Claims

Social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has challenged the Nigeria Police Force to take him to court if it believes his allegations about police checkpoints and kidnapping are false.

VeryDarkMan made the challenge after the police invited him to provide evidence supporting claims he made during the Nigerian Bar Association conference in Port Harcourt.

Speaking at the conference, the activist alleged that some police officers stationed at checkpoints along major highways provide kidnappers and bandits with information about travellers, including their identities and movements.

The Nigeria Police Force denied the allegation and asked VeryDarkMan to produce evidence to substantiate his claims.

In response, VeryDarkMan maintained his position and challenged the police to pursue the matter through the courts if they believe he committed an offence.

The controversy has generated renewed debate over police accountability, security challenges and freedom of expression in Nigeria.

While the police maintain that officers deployed to checkpoints are working to prevent crime and protect citizens, VeryDarkMan insists that his concerns should be properly investigated.

The dispute comes amid continuing public concern over kidnapping and insecurity across parts of Nigeria, with calls for stronger accountability and improved cooperation between security agencies and citizens.
