According to local officials, a powerful earthquake has struck western Colombia, resulting in the deaths of dozens of people.
According to the US Geological Survey, a magnitude-7.4 earthquake hit the Chocó region on Monday at 07:34 local time (12:34 GMT), occurring at a depth of 107 kilometers (66 miles).
Tremors were felt throughout the country and extended into neighboring regions of Venezuela, Ecuador, and Panama.
Buildings have collapsed, and rescue efforts are currently in progress to free individuals trapped under the rubble.
This event occurred less than two months after twin earthquakes ravaged areas of Venezuela, resulting in the deaths of over 6,100 people.

Cracks have appeared in the walls of her hotel following this morning’s earthquake, making her feel unsafe staying there.
“Everyone was screaming… I noticed dust emerging from the neighboring buildings, and bricks were tumbling from the walls,” she recounts to BBC World Service’s Outside Source.
At least two individuals have died in the city, where BBC Verify has confirmed footage showing collapsed buildings.
“Ávila noted that every building or two had bricks and chunks of wall paint scattered around.”
