Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing the Osun East Senatorial District, has offered clarification regarding his widely circulated ‘Kill Accord’ remark seen in a social media video.

In the video, Fadahunsi, speaking in Yoruba, appeared to accuse members of the Accord Party of attacking All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters and urged his audience to retaliate against Accord Party supporters in Ilesa. He openly challenged those present to record and share his statements, speaking to APC supporters prior to the forthcoming governorship election set for August 15, 2026.

On Tuesday, through his media office in the state’s capital, a statement titled ‘Kill Osun Accord with Votes, Not Violence, Senator Fadahunsi Tells APC,’ clarified that his comments were meant to encourage rejecting the Accord Party at the polls through legal, peaceful, democratic means during the election.

The statement emphasized that his words were “purely political and metaphorical,” clarifying that they were not intended to promote violence against any party members or the public. Fadahunsi stressed the importance of maintaining peace and called security forces to uphold citizens’ rights during the electoral process.

At no time did Senator Fadahunsi advocate for violence or intimidation. He has consistently maintained that elections should be determined by ballots rather than force.

He urged all political participants and electorate to act peacefully throughout the election period and called on security bodies to ensure all voters can exercise their rights without fear. Fadahunsi is dedicated to democratic principles, campaign issues, and a fair electoral process. He believes that the people’s decision at the ballot box should always prevail.

The senator advised against misinterpreting his remarks, underscoring their intent was to promote electoral success through voting rather than aggression.

Meanwhile, in a related issue, the campaign council of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has requested the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to investigate Fadahunsi’s comments concerning Accord Party members.
