Kwankwaso is expected to contest the 2027 election as the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Jibrin said Tinubu has a strong chance of winning Kano, partly because several members of the APC are familiar with Kwankwaso’s political structure and strategies.
Jibrin, who previously worked closely with Kwankwaso before joining Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC), said their understanding of the Kwankwasiyya movement would help the ruling party counter its political influence.
He acknowledged that Kwankwaso remains a strong political figure in Kano but argued that his position as a running mate rather than the presidential candidate could work against him in the 2027 contest.
Jibrin said those within the APC understand the strengths and weaknesses of the Kwankwasiyya political structure and are prepared to use that knowledge to challenge it at the polls.
He maintained that the combination of political experience and familiarity with Kwankwaso’s strategies would give Tinubu an advantage in Kano during the 2027 election.
