At least nine people have lost their lives overnight following Russian attacks on Ukraine, while Ukraine continues its long-range drone strikes against Russia.
In Zaporizhzhia, six fatalities were reported due to Russian strikes, and in Dnipropetrovsk, three more lives were lost.
Explosions also took place in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, leaving one person wounded.
In Russia, a drone strike set off fires at a Wildberries location in Voronezh. The company, often likened to Russia’s Amazon, has been a frequent target of Ukrainian actions in recent weeks.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the overnight assaults on Zaporizhzhia included North Korean ballistic missiles.
Describing the attacks in a post on X, he called them a “vicious assault intended to inflict maximum damage specifically on civilian infrastructure.”
In previous reports, six people were confirmed dead and 19 others injured in the area.
In Kyiv, Zelensky reported damage to an infectious disease hospital from a strike. He also mentioned that strikes on substations in Kherson and Kharkiv resulted in power outages.
He stated, “Every move by Russia—increasing ballistic missile production, acquiring equipment from North Korea, and preparing for mobilization—indicates Moscow is bracing not for peace but for further escalation.” He called for international allies to respond with sanctions and improved air defenses.
