Operatives of the Mowe Division of the Ogun State Police Command have dismantled an alleged illegal baby factory in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state, arresting six suspects and rescuing two pregnant women and four children.
The operation was carried out on Monday at Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, as part of the command’s ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking, child exploitation and other forms of criminal activity.
Two Pregnant Women Rescued
During the operation, police rescued two heavily pregnant women identified as Ilesanmi Foluke, 23, who was reportedly seven months pregnant, and Ejekwa Melody, 20.
Four children were also rescued from the premises.
The police said the operation followed intelligence gathered by officers attached to the Mowe Division concerning the activities of an alleged syndicate operating from the location.
Six Suspects Arrested
Six suspects — three women and three men — were arrested during the raid.
They were identified as:
- Florence Glory Ogbona, 58
- Magdalene Julius, 63, an attending nurse
- Oseni Kusamotu Idaya
- Chidike Egwuonwu, 40
- Onyechu Chidike, 35
- Stephen Ogbona, 39
The suspects have been taken into police custody as investigations continue into the alleged activities of the syndicate.
Police Intensify Crackdown
The operation forms part of the Ogun State Police Command’s wider campaign against human trafficking, child exploitation and illegal adoption-related activities.
Authorities are expected to investigate how the victims were brought to the location and determine whether other individuals or organisations were involved.
The rescued women and children are expected to receive appropriate care and support while the investigation continues.
The police have also urged members of the public to provide credible information about suspected trafficking networks and other criminal activities to security agencies.
The latest operation underscores the continued efforts by law enforcement agencies in Ogun State to dismantle criminal networks involved in the exploitation of vulnerable women and children.
