Activist Omoyele Sowore has criticised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election less than 24 hours after being declared the winner of the Osun governorship election.
Sowore made the comments in a post on his official X account on Monday, August 17, 2026, while questioning the deaths reportedly recorded during the violence surrounding the election.
The activist alleged that nearly 50 people lost their lives before and during the election and questioned why those responsible had not been held accountable.
Sowore wrote that lives were allegedly lost amid political violence, criticising what he described as political agreements being prioritised over the lives of citizens.
He also took aim at Adeleke’s decision to endorse Tinubu’s re-election bid, suggesting that the governor’s support was influenced by their shared Yoruba identity.
Sowore further demanded answers over the reported deaths, asking who was responsible for the violence and whether any serious investigation had been launched.
“Who killed them? Who ordered or enabled the violence? Who is investigating their deaths? Where is the justice for their families?”
His comments come after Adeleke, following his victory in the Osun governorship election, publicly reaffirmed his support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The controversy has since sparked fresh debate over political alliances, election-related violence and accountability in Osun State.
