Bola Oyebamiji, the governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, commended the voter turnout in Ikire during the state’s gubernatorial election. He expressed his appreciation on Saturday, August 15th, after voting at Open Space Gantry Sawmill, Ward 009, Polling Unit 011 in Ikire within Irewole Local Government Area.
Oyebamiji observed that the presence of voters, electoral officials, and security personnel at the polling station signified a smooth election process. He praised the high voter turnout in Ikire, highlighting it as evidence that people were not intimidated. Overall, he noted that everything was proceeding well across the state.
In light of potential violence in Ikire later today, he encouraged security agencies to remain vigilant and prioritize voter safety during the election. He urged police and other security forces to stay proactive in securing the polling process and expressed confidence that the election would be conducted transparently.
In response to reports about a politician’s arrest related to election materials, Oyebamiji expressed his expectation for law enforcement agencies to carry out their responsibilities. Commenting on the incident, he reiterated his confidence in the police’s ability to perform their duties efficiently.
