Sowore Blasts Davido Over Wike Meeting Amid Osun Election Fallout

Renowned Nigerian activist Omoyele Sowore has expressed disapproval of Afrobeats sensation Davido, officially known as David Adeleke, for his recent meeting with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Davido and his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, visited Wike at his residence in Abuja on Thursday, shortly after the Osun State governorship election.

A video making rounds on social media depicted Davido having a casual conversation with Wike regarding the election’s outcome.

Sowore Questions Davido’s Interaction With Wike

In response to the meeting, Sowore accused Nigerian politicians and their associates of prioritizing political interests over public concerns.

He questioned the rationale behind Davido meeting with Wike, given the violence and fatalities reported during the election period.

In a post on his X account, Sowore labeled Davido and others involved as “political hustlers.”

“Nigerian political hustlers will mislead the public, and the naive will believe the deception entirely,” Sowore commented.

He further criticized Davido for what he termed “genuflecting” before Wike, noting that the meeting occurred soon after political tensions tied to the Osun election.

Violence Clouds Osun Election

This exchange takes place amid reports of violence surrounding the Osun governorship election.

Supporters associated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Accord Party were reportedly killed during the election period.

Sowore remarked that these political interactions following the election revealed underlying political interests among key figures.

He accused political leaders of publicly clashing while secretly maintaining alliances when their interests align.

These remarks have fueled ongoing discussions about the conduct of the Osun election and the forming of political alignments post-election.
