Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare left a mark in his debut for Ajax, netting his first goal and providing an assist during their 4-2 triumph against Swiss club Sion in the first leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League playoff on Thursday night.
Initially on the bench, Arokodare entered the field by substituting Marcos Leonardo with 18 minutes remaining in regular time.
He made an immediate impact by scoring Ajax’s third goal in the 74th minute, enhancing the Dutch team’s lead. Before the match concluded, Arokodare set up Davy Klaassen to score the fourth goal, sealing Ajax’s 4-2 victory.
This win places Ajax in a favorable position for the upcoming second leg at the Johan Cruyff Arena next Thursday.
Arokodare is eager to maintain his strong performance, aiming to contribute further as Ajax pursues advancement to the league phase of the 2026/27 UEFA Europa Conference League.
