Afrobeat star Davido has responded critically to Paulo Okoye, Iyabo Ojo’s partner and a music promoter, after his remarks on the current state of Afrobeat. As reported by Obasanjonews24, Paulo voiced concerns about the increasing fees charged by Nigeria’s leading Afrobeat artists and questioned if the genre is “dead or in a coma.”
In response, Nigerian Grammy-nominated singer and music executive Bankulli disagreed with Paulo’s remarks, implying that they arose from an inability to afford top-tier artists. Supporting this perspective, Davido chimed in by calling Paulo “broke.”
This interaction occurs nearly two years after Paulo publicly supported Davido concerning his remarks about the “shambles” of Nigeria’s economy during The Big Homies House podcast.
