Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and Bashir Ahmad, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), may face off in Osun State on Tuesday in anticipation of the August 15 governorship election.
Obasanjonews24 recalls that tensions rose between the two on Thursday following a telephone conversation between President Bola Tinubu and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle. After the call, Davido expressed his excitement on his social media platform, stating he “witnessed history.”
In response, Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential media aide, bookmarked Davido’s post, hinting that the singer might later express disappointment over the election results.
Davido countered by mocking Ahmad’s performance in the recent APC primary election, where he reportedly secured only 16 votes. Additionally, Davido criticized Ahmad for not making a positive impact in his community during his eight-year tenure in government.
In a subsequent post, Bashir announced his plans to be in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, starting on Tuesday, August 11, to participate in the APC campaign rallies.
As the governorship race intensifies, candidates including APC’s Bola Oyebamiji and incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party are ramping up their campaigns for the August 15 election.
